Film Festivals are back in Toronto this summer. This is your complete guide to Toronto’s art scene.
1. Inside Out Festival – May 26 to June 6
This annual festival promotes 2SLGBTQ+ stories and personal works. It is happening at the TIFF Bell Lightbox this year for over 10 days. Screenings, artist talks, panel discussions, installations, and parties are highlighting more than 180 films and videos from Canada and around the world.
2. ReelAbilities Film Festival – May 26 to June 10
Showcasing Canadian and International shorts, features, and documentaries about Deaf and disability cultures and by filmmakers and actors who are deaf or are with disabilities. This festival includes workshops, comedy nights, panels, and of course, screenings.
3. Toronto Smartphone Film Festival – June 11 to 12
With cameras in smartphones now being almost as good as professional ones, smartphone filmmaking has become popular. This festival highlights the work of filmmakers who chose to use smartphones to film content.
4. The Hybrid Genre Canada Film Festival – August 17
This festival brings mixed thematical works to the city. The audience will experience eccentric films including various genres, such as sci-fi, fantasy, horror, animation, historical, and more.
5. Buffer Festival – August 25 to 28
If you are a keen subscriber of YouTubers and other online content creators, the Buffer festival is for you. This festival is to celebrate digital content and includes theatrical screenings, creator red carpet, industry keynotes, and awards.
